The CMMI was developed to provide a single model to be used by organizations pursuing enterprise-wide process improvement. It provides needed guidance for integrating systems and software development activities. It supports the coordination of multi-disciplined activities that are or may be required to successfully build a project. These CMMI-based processes are also capable of translation into business processes for other organizational departments such as Human Factors, Finance, Marketing, Computer Services and Contract Management.
Kasse Initiatives is a world leader in providing CMMI®-based process improvement support through its Training Courses, Seminars and Workshops. Kasse Initiatives offers the official SEI Intro to CMMI v.1.2 WITH ADDED KI VALUE along with 2-3 Day training course on the engineering principles that support the implementation of the CMMI model.
Available in 1-Day Seminar and 2 -3 Day Workshops.

Kasse Initiatives' consultants come with our process asset library which includes industry standard templates and procedures along with examples of plans and procedures that can be used as a base to help get these ideas started at the client’s organization.
This presentation is a high-level view of the CMMI model without the minutia of generic or specific practices or sub-practices. It defines the roles and responsibilities for senior managers during a CMMI implementation. Senior management teams within an organization attempting to quantify the value of process, gain a better understanding of various models or learn the potential of multiple model and process integrations would benefit from this Seminar.
This is the official SEI certified 3-day workshop that comes from the SEI. Individuals who wish to become a Lead Appraiser, CMMI instructor or even a CMMI Partner must complete this official SEI Intro to CMMI Workshop. Kasse Initiatives is a SEI Partner authorized to certify participants’ attendance and participation in the SEI Intro to CMMI.
(This course, created by Tim Kasse, has been taught world-wide to thousands of participants who want a better understand of the details of the CMMI model and intend to “take back” knowledge and to put the CMMI into practice.)
This course is better! And it also includes the same certification of the official SEI Intro to CMMI v.1.2 workshop from the SEI Individuals who wish to become a Lead Appraiser, CMMI instructor or even a CMMI Partner must complete this official SEI Intro to CMMI Workshop. Kasse Initiatives is a SEI Partner authorized to certify participants’ attendance and participation in the SEI Intro to CMMI.
Detailed look at the CMMI including its structure for both the Continuous and Staged representations. Common model components including generic and specific goals, generic and specific practices, sub-practices, amplifications, elaborations and typical examples are discussed. This starts with a strong focus on the business relevance of process improvement and quality management. Presents engineering systems think and engineering principles behind the guidance the CMMI provides. Finishes with a detailed look at quantitative project management, statistical process control, and process improvement innovation based on the predictability quantitatively controlled processes can offer.
A slightly reduced scope from the 5-Day CMMI Workshop This workshop utilizes exercises that force the student to look at the CMMI Process Areas from a horizontal and diagonal view in addition to the classic view of vertical silos.
This shortened workshop tends to focus more on the basics of the CMM. This workshop focuses predominantly on Maturity Level 2 and Level 3 from the Staged Representation. This workshop introduces the concepts of Maturity Level 4 and Level 5.
Starts with a detailed review of the Process Definition PA. Briefly touches Technical Solution and the technical constraints it applies to the set of standard organizational processes as well as Integrated Project Management to ensure the participants have the same framework and vocabulary. Goes into detail on the PA's describing Quantitative Management Concepts (Organizational Process Performance and Quantitative Project Management) and Optimizing Concepts (Organizational Innovation and Deployment and Causal Analysis and Resolution). Includes discussions on Statistical Process Control for Quantitative Process Management
The CMMI is not an engineering handbook. It cannot be used as such. It does not contain the information for a project to carry out requirements analysis or build a Configuration Management function. To fill in where the CMMI is not, Kasse Initiatives has developed and evolved Systems / Software Engineering Workshops which provide the necessary software/systems engineering concepts and principles behind the Process Areas (Pas) in the CMMI.
Systems Engineering is the management technology that controls a total system life-cycle process, which evolves and which results in the definition, design, development, and deployment, and disposal of a system that is of high quality, and is cost-effective in meeting the user’s needs.
Software Engineering is reaching its 50 year mark, yet most of the same problems that have plagued the software industry during its existence are still with us and many would argue are growing exponentially as the complexity of the software intensive systems that are built continues to grow as well.
Kasse Initiatives also provides trainings in Organizational Learning and Change. Many organizations do not understand how to facilitate meetings, how to deal with resistance and conflict, how to use Myers-Briggs type information to move an individual or individuals from one state into the next desired state. They lack the understanding of what type of organization they work in and therefore do not know how to go about changing it. The Organizational Learning and Change classes offered include:
- 3-Day SEPG Workshop (3-Day Workshop)
- Day Team Building Workshop
- Day Managing Technological Change Seminar
- Day Change Management Tool Kit Workshop
- Day Process Improvement Initiative Expectation Setting
- Day SPI Awareness Briefing Seminar
